Giving up Residency?

Should one give up residency. It like 3 years and applied a lot of hospital. no one wants to accept. Should one give up residency?

Depends whether you are applying in a specialty that is very traditional or highly competitive..... You might need to refocus yourself as to what is your plan B or C or D etc. 

There are some doctors who  have applied residency training positions and they are already in their mid 40's but still get accepted.

Don't give up if you really want to specialize.  Cast a wider net. Competition is high esp for top hospitals in the metro. Do you receive any feedback from the programs you've applied to? Maybe we can help you improve your chances if you share some details.



Are you still pursuing postgrad training in HK? Maybe it would increase your chances if you can study Mandarin or highlight your moonlighting experience focused on the training program you're interested in.
