Hello there!

I was just wondering, has anyone here applied at UNP in Vigan? Or has anyone enrolled there yet? I heard they have low tuition fee.  :laugh2:  :approved:

The tuition, curriculum as well as the passing rate. Thanks! That would help our Ilocano kababayans who want to pursue Medicine but with very limited choice of Medical schools.

As for the tuition, it's around 26-28k. Yung curriculum di ko pa natatanong - I'll ask them when I return there for the interview. Then yung passing rate, I think okay naman. It's on the average level.

Tuition is really low and living in Vigan is not expensive, but you get what you pay for. If you have money, I suggest you go for other schools with better learning resources and facilities. Board exam performance is usually lower than national passing rate, so I think it's more on in-between low and average. PBL classes, very difficult exams and exam passing rates have been increased to 70/100. Some professors will curve grades though. Still, I believe 70% is difficult relative to the type of exams the professors are giving. They said they have also became more strict with retaining policies as they want to increase their board exam passing rate. Good roster of faculty members, almost all are specialists with some nationally recognized as bests in their fields, but I wouldn't say all are effective teachers (that's probably true for all schools). Since number of enrollees have been increasing, class sizes have also been increasing without adding class sections. So, I think this becomes a major problem for their PBL classes. No return service, and just like any other med school now, no more required units of certain subjects in undergraduate. NMAT requirement varies per admission year, just inquire with them. I heard some were admitted with very low NMAT grades but were on probationary status.

hello everyone..

just a newbie here

i dunno if it's true,  just saw an advertisement recently to a Facebook account (it's an agency i think  intended for foreign students that will study med here in Ph) saying that UNP is now offering  MD,MBA program same with ateneo. oha!!! kewlll right?

yup tuition fee is very low, like for school year 2014-2015 1st sem ranges from 25-27k including misc. lab etc.

uniform is not included though.

with regards to passing rate average 60-70% i believe.

they're using PBL since there are foreign students (but someone told me that they're also using traditional.. so it's just like mix trad. and pbl, no idea really)

the number 1 school of medicine so far in region 1 (there are 2 other medical schools in region 1, both located in pangasinan, Virgen Milagrosa University and Lyceum Northwestern University)

and btw if you're really interested in studying to state univ in region 1..maybe you can look forward to these schools too..

the newly opened Mariano Marcos State University College of Medicine (NMAT=85-90, very low tuition too.)

Pangasinan State University COM (opening would be school year 2015-2016 accdng. to them)

I'm planning to enroll in UNP after I graduate in Nursing, since my granparents basically lives near Vigan so it wouldnt be much of a problem.

Pero I'm worried kasi i'm not sure if It will be worth it? May classmate ako na indonesian na may mga kapatid na third years na sa unp taking med and they dont recommend it to their little brother. It's challenging in my part since I don't have much info with unp other than this post (thank-you by the way 😀 anyway I would have scratch having Unp as an option immediately) So what are your thoughts?

Planning to pero dami ko pang choice na pinag iisipan eh na mas malapit eh at nasa top med schools in terms of licensure exams.

Puro mga Manila bound universities like
Our Lady of fatima. Up Manila. Manila Central University. Pamantasan rin.

Even far ones like in Cagayan and Iloilo (in which NO agad sabi ng mom ko hayz) kasi cheaper and based dito sa pinoy md maganda turo. :)

Are you studying in UNP?

I heard UNP has their standards for the credited units.

Can they classify my AnaPhysio (6 units), Natural Science (3 Units), Microbiology (3 units), and parasitology (3 units) as Biology subjects in exchange of Botany and Zoology. I haven't taken those subjects since i am a nursing graduate.

For my Mathematics, I have College Algebra (3 units), and Biostatistics (3units).

I met the criteria for Chem and Physics.

anyone? thank you!

magkahiwalay ang section for foreigners and pinoys..

Hello guys. May nagpa assess na ba sa UNP regarding their required pre-med units? I'm BSN so I don't meet the requirements on natural sciences units, was hoping to ask if anyone with BSN or any other reasonable 4 year degree is in such a quandary as I am.

I'm currently stationed in manila, was hoping to travel there to apply and not end up in vain because of my lacking units.
