Here's a link to a paper written by Dr. Banzuela. The article does not only deal on the best review center but also gave a concise outline of how to pass the boards.

hi! in last year's aug boards, pwede any white uniform, med school or PGI. kahit naka-blazer pwede basta white yung top. half of us had our exam sa EARIST...eulogio amang rodriguez sa nagtahan, the rest sa MLQU in quiapo (where one examinee wasn't able to take the exam kasi na-hold-up sya, natangay pati admission slip...wawa naman!) sa EARIST, WALA as in WALANG aircon, heck, wala ngang electric fan!! so hindi na sila strict sa uniform, kahit colored top basta white pants, ung iba wla ng blazer. pero i suppose bawal pa rin tank tops hehehe... black shoes pa rin ata kami. last Feb, sa UE and CEU daw, same as the previous year (kami lang ata yung sa mainit (gosh, buti nakapasa ako! imagine, sakit na ulo because of the nonsense questions tpos mainit pa. this year, i don't know where the testing centers will be, ask na lang sa PRC when you apply. anyway, just bring a fan (ung pamaypay lang ha!) and a jacket pa rin, just in case.

God bless sa boards! don't forget to pray!

I don't know the place but I would highly suggest you get the number of the campus and ask specifics on how to get there. Ask for landmarks for better directions.

Good luck to you and your classmates!

uwian!

hehehe

Pumasa naman kami lahat sa group di ba Don?

Kwento lang naman sakin na mas maraming tukso kapag in house :)

@irishbluemargarita
Concentrate on your reviews may it be studying alone or with a study group. It all boils down to what you have been used to during your first 3 years in medical school. Being with a group (in house or study group) is good for pacing, and for questioning, or brainstorming. When you study alone, fewer distractions. Try to collect reviewers as early as now, so that you won't be spending those precious time after internship just by calling sina manang or manong for reviewers.

we rented a house somewhere in tandang sora, august last year.
stayed there for 2 weeks.
with LUGGAGES of reviewers.
ranging from J & S series (all subjects), USMLE steps 1 and 2 (2005 and 2006) and many more.
lots and lots of so-called "previous exams."
we had a separate makeshift room just to accomodate all the books and stuff, and called it, "the library."
ga bundok na highlighters.
isang gallon ng kape at chichirya.
i came in weighing 140lbs, and came out 150 after the boards.
of course, kasama na rin trips to st jude and sta clara church.
our dean came to visit us few days before the exam, and brought in some more food. (thanks po, dean)
he offered support and prayers, much to our utmost delight and pride.
gave us also a van for the commute going to the exam sites.
alas, thinking about it, around 10 per cent only came out from the review.
cguru nga stored info lang talaga makakasalba sa iyo from the exam.
ang review, parang confidence booster lang sya, i think.
para hindi mag freak out, at ma blanko during the main event.
opinion ko lang po.

Actually you can have a little bit of both, it's possible if you have the time. Selfstudy muna kayo tapos bunk-in during the last 2-3 weeks to discuss topics/answer samplex, etc.

O di ba, best of both worlds.... samut-saring tukso. ehehehe

@sir cruzin
Naku...di lang naman pang-mature audience ang mga tukso...
pwede din naman GP lang...meron akong kakilala (naka in-house), ini-sked nila yung panonood ng HighSchool Musical sa disney channel.

Hello everybody! This is my 1st post. I just discovered this site this morning and couldnt stop touring except nuong American Idol na. Anyway, I'm back and I hope I can get help ( then eventually help too later on) because I've put off taking the boards for 6 years already (excuses are childbirths and an RN degree). My family doesnt think it's funny anymore. My so called last train was the just finished Feb 2007, but of course I didnt take it again. Please help! :blush:I was just wonderin were and if I could still get a copy of the Physician's Black Book. I know there's been a lot of controversy about this, but some of us have to start somewhere.

Actually, we just took down the Black Book from our files yesteryday because the author is preparing to release a book and a website. When his website is up, we will have a link to it here. However, for now, I think he will gladly give you a copy if you email him. His email is loroteyang@yahoo.com.

Good luck!

Thank you mikemuin, I'll e-mail him today. Antigone, lets update (scare!) each other til August ok?
I've been reading this book Symptom to Diagnosis by Stern et al (P695 at National) which, simply put, diagnostic thinking deconstructed, sort of my pampagana (or delaying tactic) to feel like a doctor before I hit the textbooks! It's really good. I approach it like a pocketbook para relax lang. But seriously... seriously!...I'll do F/A for the boards + textbook(?) by organ system...soon. Just as soon as I make a timetable...soon.

The 2006 edition has separate chapters for Biochem, Micro/Immuno, Pharma, and BS, tapos the rest are organized by system (ana/physio/patho). that's the only main difference with 2005 which is arranged per subject.

You're gonna be wasting your time and money if you are going to a review center. I suggest you make your own study schedule. Start from the basic down to the clinical subjects. An open communication with your schoolmates and batchmates from other schools is an advantage. Just my 2 cents.

Maybe, you can just ask for a copy of the review center's schedule and you can use that as a guide. By doing so, I think you may have ample time to do second readings.

In retrospect naman lahat - taking the Board Review Course is a nice "security blanket". Looking back, may napala ba ako? Wala. If you'd rely solely on the review course, it's too late to cram everything in your noggin for a short period of time.

Group study? Yun, napakinabangan ko naman kasi I have a tendency to sleep when I'm alone. So, may motivation to stay awake and review.

not unless magpapatawa ka sir cruzin or tsismisan nyo sila ng showbiz....cgurado buhay na naman ang group nyo nun! :D

advice ko lang, create your own system..your own pacing..well, cguro Ok din makinig sa iba pero, ikaw lang naman ang makakaalam sa sarili mo how you deal with your worst & best subjects..ako, i took more time studying sa mga hirap kong subjects - biochem,physio,pharma...although equal weight naman silang 12 subjects, cguro self-assurance lang.. :)

ang importante sa mga review materials eh yun mga naiintindihan mo..para mas madali mo rin ma-memorize ..kasi pwede kang paikutin sa board questions..aside from those wierd questions, corelation ang approach nila..pwede silang magtanong ng pharma sa micro or biochem sa physio, you know.. :)

tama lahat advices ng fellow PMDs... :)

tao lang tayo, may limitation din..guard yourself, baka ma-burn out ka..

at the end of the day, after doing your best, leave to HIM the rest...

A lot of kneeling will keep you in good standing...

Ito po ay aking pananaw lamang.. :)

SHare ko lang...At first I was skeptical kasi with group study, isipin ko nakakatoxic, but it helped me a lot. Mas maganda na mag group study kayo after nyo makapag basa na, para marami kayo ma-share sa iba and vice versa. Schedule is really very important. And ang kaba kalaban yan so learn to control it. If u feel na kinakabahan na naman kayo, pray muna, then if u feel better, aral uli. One more thing that helped me was praying before I start studying and praying after studying din, ganun din kami sa group study, nagdadasal before and after. Kaya nyo yan!!! God bless and have faith! :)
