Me and mk (mkmd10) have already talked about having a group to represent a major songfest in the Philippines. This involves 2 songs (original compositions) to be submitted on or before May 10 (tama ba mk?). The grand prize is a million pesos, and really it's a good thing to win the grand prize but to me it's also to show everyone that we are more than just sleepless nights and thick books...that we are also worthy and capable of doing the things we love and show everyone that we are well-rounded people.

Mk already has some material. The only thing we need now is to form the melody of the material, and to accomplish that we need a melody section which involves a band, composing of a vocalist (ayaw ni mk eh. haha), guitars (that would be me), drummer, keyboardist and bassist. What we need to do is create the melody for the song. We need 2 songs for the competition, and if we are ready we can record it in a studio and then submit it on or before May 10.

I'd like to put a timeline for it. First off, the band must be ready by ten days. A good amount of committment is needed. Then everything will follow.

Imagine us winning it all. It would not just give the profession pride and honor but it would change the landscape of the music scene as well.

Pride, prestige and integrity, that's what we are. Now it's time to show everyone our artistic side.

Wow! this sounds cool! i also love music eversince. I used to play piano but i havent done it since medschool.I can apply for vocals. I used to be in a hiphop rnb/reggae band before medschool and joined the APMC chorale competitions. I also do arrange songs for a capella ^__^.

This is a competition which I'm hoping na every member in the group is a certified MD. Not taking away from students, I know your passion and idealism for things is fever-pitch (believe me, everybody starts that way), pero what I'd really want is for you students to focus more on your studies rather than lose focus on other things like this. Your time will come, just be patient.

For now, we have a couple more days to find the members.

As time passed by, I grew more and more in love with what I can do with my hands and now I am grateful to my mother.

I also sing (I love broadway) and play guitar and konting flute. I still want to learn how to play drums and violin.

hi Doc nanabananabelle, thank you for sharing. I know we could all relate to Miranda and Derek's conversation/scene in Grey's Anatomy when they admitted to each other that they were both band members when they were younger.

Ngayon ko lang nakita ito ah. Kudos with max drift! to dr. bembmd. ako din nag-start sa piano dahil sa wish ng nanay ko and nag-gitara dahil naingit sa kuya ko pero noon ang tawag sa akin ng piano teacher ko ay "Enteng Kabisote" haha, nung nag-gitara naman ako kuya ko ang naging mentor ko and the rest is history. Started playing with a band during high school from Hendrix to Wolfgang ang genre ko kaso ang problema ko kabisote ako eh so after a month malamang nakalimutan ko na yung kanta, haha. Pero pagdating ng pre med nahinto ako kasi walang nagbabanda sa school na pinasukan ko. then pagdating ng Medicine nakilala ko si dr. bembmd (the best drummer na nakabanda ko ) naging regular kaming sumasali sa Battle of the bands pag Med-Week, minsan magkasama kami madalas magkalaban kami, palaging talo banda ko pag-kalaban ko sya. haha. buti nalang one time nagkasama kami at yun nanalo din

Forgot to update this thread due to some commitments outside.

Yes, the band composed of me and dr. acidfast won the inter-hospital battle of the bands.

It's great to express this love for playing good music and the prestige of knowing we are special and a select few who can balance life-saving duties and fulfilling our passions as well.
