University of Perpetual Help Jonelta Foundation School of Medicine

Base Hospital: The newly renovated UNIVERSITY OF PERPETUAL HELP DALTA MEDICAL CENTER - las Piņas City

Minsan na akong nakapunta sa hospital na ito at masasabi kong isa na sa pinakamaganda in terms of facilities na meron ang isang tertiary hospital.... Actually mga Indians DAW ngayon ang nagmemed dito mostly, mas madaming Indians keysa Filipinos...

NO NMAT CUT OFF, NO REQUIRED ADDITIONAL UNITS basta graduate ka ng natural/health sciences degree...

Promise mganda ang hospital nila......pwede compare sa St.Lukes, Makati Med, Asian at Medical City...

Mura Pa!

Yup! I second emoticons haha!

from what i heard sa "kakilala" kong grad as first batch dun, business man daw kasi ang may ari kaya di raw tlga strict, basta as long as you can make the sound of "katching!!!" Ok ka na! which is not really that hard compared sa ibang schools dahil mas mura

I also thought about that school actually, but the thing is, 60k na tuition plus ipang do-dorm ko at araw araw na cost of living,... mas mapapamahal parin ako. kya dito lang tlga sa manila ang mga naka set na options ko.

But to those na malapit or mas feacible na sa las pinas mag study, GO! GO! GO! na talaga kayo rito.

^ True. Magaling din ang professors dito. Mostly Indian students.

Well... kanya kanya naman siguro tayo ng perspective when it goes down to that arguement

Hati kasi eh, may mga pumapasa, may mga bumabagsak

its not the schools fault naman siguro kung di nag aral yung student. at di rin naman all glory to the school if otherwise di ba

I'm only pertaining to Region IV.
Yes. I've been there...
Same holds true in Binan ex. Yung Linac-External Beam Radiation Therapy Machine nila digital, compare sa Las Pinas na conventional.
Pati mas kilala ang Las Pinas kasi nasa Metro Manila sya.

Sorry hindi ko na-elaborate masyado.
The DOH granted Level IV category license on their diagnostic and therapy facilities.

What categorization is this? Hospital leveling? Sorry if I'm curious in asking. First time I heard of a Level IV hospital.

What categorization is this? Hospital leveling? Sorry if I'm curious in asking. First time I heard of a Level IV hospital.

It is a license-to-operate for the hospital equipments, you can see this license within the laboratory, radiology, etc.

For example:
*In Binan Community Hospital, I saw this kind of license hung in the wall of their laboratory and x-ray departments, its states "Level II category"

*When you pass by Asian Hospital & Med Canter, you will also notice this kind of license placed within the reception area of Radiology(where I am currently working) and Pathology labroratory. It states "Level III category"

*For Perpetual Help Binan, you can locate this license inside the Chief Radiologic Tech(1 in Radiology & another in Radiation Oncology dept) and Chief Medical Tech office. It states "Level IV category"

Maybe, magtataka kayo why "Asian Hospital is only Level III, while Perpetual is Level IV?" It is because Perpetual-Binan invested more on specialized medical equipment, not much on improvement of thier services and infrastructures.

In fact, bago ako nag-apply as Radiologic Technologist sa Asian Hospital, una kong pinuntahan ang Perps Binan kasi may bago silang machine-Linear Accelerator(external beam radiation treatment for patients with cancer), unfortunately, kumpleto na sila ng mga Rad Tech's for this department. The Chief Rad Tech for this department told me that the said machine costs a whopping 2,000,000 US$. Asian Hospital does not have this kind of machine yet. Maybe it is one of the reason why "Level IV category" ang license nila.

It also covers the laboratory and other specialized services in the hospital like shockwave lithotripsy, rehab equipments and the like...
The Medical City is probably Level IV, meron din kasi silang Linear Accelerator(Linac) & Brachytherapy like Perpetual, Nuclear medicine, etc...

Oo hahaha! Astig sa facilities and rooms are very nice(push button din yung mga bed like in Asian Hosp)...

Yep dun po ako nagwo-work.

Chinita ba siya? Yung maputi?

). Traumatic!

hello po, planning to go to medskul nxt yr and 1st choice ko talaga is UPHR las pinas kasi siya ang pinakamalapit na medskul samin. m already married w/ 2 kids so mas ok kung malapit na skul ang pipiliin ko so il stil have kahit konting time for my family. i tried to inquire by phone last june kasi hahabol sana ko. medyo intimidating at first un nkausap ko sa office but the main thing she asked and always emphasized is who's going to finance my studies and she asked me questions about my hubby's work, my parents' work etc, as if investigating if i'm financially capable. after i "convinced" her that i am, bumait na siya tapos pinapapunta na ko the following day. magdala daw ako ng atleast 60k for the tuition plus 10k "donation" which is compulsory. (may donation bang compulsory? hehe!) neway, d ako nakapunta kasi di ako pinayagan ng husband ko. i just gave birth via c-section kasi last wk of May tapos pasok na ko medskul by June. masyado pa daw maliit baby namin to be left with a yaya. so hopefully by june 2010, go na ko. ive been hearing a lot of negative comments about UPHR's college of med like absent daw lagi mga profs, pabaya daw ang college sa mga students nila, etc. pero i still plan to go there kasi nga malapit at mura2 tuition. i believe din kasi na mas malaking factor and student attitude kesa sa school. btw, i also saw the newly renovated hospital, maganda talaga siya! i also have friends from UPHR med who are now clerks, positive naman sinasabi nila, syempre love your own. hehe! if there's anyone here who has ideas about UPHR las pinas, please enlighten me... tnx!

Haha!

Ganoon na nga ang malaking problema sa Perps-Medicine(both Rizal and Binan) most of their faculty were only part-time, mas priority nila yung hospital work nila kesa teaching (Because mababa ang per hour rate ng compensation nila compare to other med schools) Kaya doble-kayod ka sa pag babasa...

Kaya I believe nasa student talaga yung malaking factor.

You should weigh the pros and cons first before ka pumasok sa isang med school. If you think you can manage both your studies and family kapag sa Perps ka nag-med, then go for it. Pero kung may mag-aalaga naman ng baby mo, why not try other med schools. At the end of the day magiging MD ka pa rin.

@ radtechmd : nice insight! :goodpost:

@ tinrn : :iagree: with radtechmd..
considering you already have a family..
its better to enter in a school near your home..
eventhough its really difficult when your doing your med studies..
nothing can replace the moment you share with your family specially with your children.. :)
i also have a friend in UPHR.. ok naman ang feedback nia skn..
kung san ka man mag aral or magtapos.. bsta matapos mo.. MD ka pa din.. ^_^

ingats nlng lagi.. Godbles.. ^_^ and gudluck satin! :D

I agree with the above comments.
I finished my Internal Medicine residency program at Perps Binan circa 1994.
Pumasa ako ng diplomate exam on first attempt circa 1995 at naging FPCP 1997.

of course it may not be as sensational as other med schools, but in my case when finances is a challenge, kahit anong med school ay papatusin ko na hehehehe

I've heard mura nga lang yung tuition nila... If i'm not mistaken it's about 60K+. Cheaper than most private med schools...

I agree... As long you are passionate enough and work hard for it, you'll surely end up being an MD...

Good luck! Saan ka ba? Binan or Las Pinas?

i think its 80k per semester now plus books which you also need to buy from them which is around 15-20k, plus also your uniform which you have to buy parang every year, like 1st and 2nd yr same ang uniform, pag 3rd yr iba and style ng uniorm at pag 4thyr or clerkship iba nanaman ang uniform, uniform cost around 3-4k for 5 sets na yun .... hehehe im a graduate of perpetual binan thats why i know... :eyebrows: :eyebrows: :eyebrows: pero i think that is still lower than other private medical schools in manila...ok naman mga consultants they really teach...maybe kulang lang sa pag-aral mga estudyante, and usually yun mga nag aaral talaga nakakapasa sa boardexam on the first take    hope this helps

I've heard mura nga lang yung tuition nila... If i'm not mistaken it's about 60K+. Cheaper than most private med schools...

I agree... As long you are passionate enough and work hard for it, you'll surely end up being an MD...

Good luck! Saan ka ba? Binan or Las Pinas?

las pinas po..i inquired there about a week ago, nasa 60k nga raw po ang tuition..probably the cheapest private med school :-)

i teach in UPHR, and yung mga students naman na nag-aaral..nakakapasa ng boards. Most of our Internal Medicine residents are UPHR grads..and they are all okay. Some surgical resident and pedia residents and anesthesia residents are grads of UPHR. So I guess....its actually the attitude of the students which counts.

the guys from SAO and their dean, Dr. Siao (sya pa din ba hanggang ngayun?), invited me to do med school in perpetual binan after graduation..

but i didn't.

after seeing how things go about there, it never even became one of my choices.

**just my 2 cents.

hi everyone..a newbie here ^_^

will be enrolling at perps this coming april. Took the NMAT last dec.13..then, nag-take ng entrance exam 3 weeks ago..hehe.
I agree na mas lower ang tuition fee sa perps compared sa other schools and it's convenient for me since it's just a 10-minute ride from our place. :)
