A friend of mine is on PLDT WeRoam, the speed sucks and just a little faster than dial up. The only consolation is its internet availability anytime, anywhere as long as there is a smart cellsite nearby he can connect to the net. I think this service is more tailor fitted to working executives whose main use of the net is to send and receive e-mails on the go.. Anyone ever tried Globe Visibility? BTW, PLDT We Roam has lowered its rates and is now offering prepaid accounts with unlimited wifi connectivity. This is his speedtest result:

Thanks Doc wolvie,
Naku, halos parang dial up lang... gagamitin ko sana sa business pa naman.
So, mas ok ba na kumuha na lang ng 3g handset and makiride sa 3G bandwidth para makainternet po?

Any suggestions?

Thanks

My speed using Smart 3G via my mobile phone connected to my laptop by bluetooth.
The speed slows down if there is no available 3G connection --- ie GPRS connection only.
Note that it is slightly faster than the PLDT WERoam speedtest result I posted previously.

One problem I encountered with smart 3G is the relative difficulty downloading files from rapidshare-- telling me to finish downloading and wait for blank blank minutes before downloading again. I think the network only give static ip addy to all of those connecting by 3G.
My latest speedtest result using PLDT my DSL plan 888:

Your other option is globe's speak and surf, a wireless "landline" with wifi router.
I think gary uses the globe speak and surf. I hope he can post his speedtest result here.

These are DNS problems, try using OpenDNS (www.opendns.org), if it still doesn't work, call their hotlines.

Has anyone ever tried the new offering from Smart? the Smart BRO plug in
Posted Image
from their website:

Quote

The newest plan from Smart BRO - Plan 799, allows you to surf the net anywhere there's a PC! The Smart BRO USB modem is a small, palm-sized device that you can carry with you wherever you go. And anytime you need to surf, just plug it into the USB port of your PC, and you'll get connected in a flash!

40 HOURS FREE per MONTH!
• Initial Payment - P1,999 (upon subscription)

• Monthly Fee - P799 only

*In excess of 40 hours will be charged P10 per block of 30 minutes.
Posted Image
• Nationwidest coverage
• Absolutely no need for a phone line
• Anytime, always on, unlimited broadband access
• No need to dial up to an ISP
• No need to log in
• Affordable rates that guarantee you the best value
Subscribe to Smart BRO now, and just plug it for internet anywhere! Plug into any Smart Wireless Center, PLDT Business Office, or any Smart or PLDT accredited sales agent to get your application forms.

They also have an unlimited plan available for 999. Unfortunately, IT DOESNT WORK FOR MAC yet.
I'm wondering if this service is similar as to what one can get from the smart 3G.

It's similar. You are just given a free GPRS/HSDPA/3G modem with this plan. If you use your phone to connect your laptop to the net thru 3g or HSDPA or even GPRS, then you don't need this plan.

They do? 999 for unlimited portable internet connection at 3.5 G speeds sounds like an excellent deal to me.

Has anyone tried this? I need feedbacks :)

Can anyone post the speedtest for Sun Wireless Broadband? Some people I talked to said that this is the fastest if you are in the metro.
